Important USPS Update You Should Know About
Starting December 24, 2025, USPS postmarks no longer reflect the day you drop your mail in a mailbox. Instead, mail is postmarked when it’s processed at a USPS facility, which could be a day or more later.
Why this matters:
Deadlines for absentee ballots, taxes, legal documents, payments, donations, and other time-sensitive mail often rely on the postmark date.
How to protect yourself:
• Mail important items early
• Ask for a manual postmark at the post office
• Use Certified or Registered Mail or a Certificate of Mailing
• Consider electronic or in-person submissions when available
This small change could have a big impact. Don’t wait until the last minute!
